Excel is currently unavailable for outside breedings which makes this GMAF Silent Auction offering* an exclusive opportunity to benefit both the alpaca industry AND your breeding program with a contribution that will provide returns for years to come.
If you are looking for the exceptional, Excel is a male worth your time to consider. Please stop by the farm displays for Dougherty Creek Alpacas, GalPaca Farm and Kinney Valley Alpacas to see a sample of his beautiful fleece.
Excel caught our eye at the 2007 AOBA Summer National show, and when we felt the butter soft hand of his fleece we immediately realized this male was special - in fact we had never felt anything like it. After evaluating histograms and seeing his Sire, Dam and several siblings at Timberland Alpacas in Oregon, the quality of his fleece and pedigree were confirmed. In 2008 he began his role as Top Stud in our breeding programs.
Excels quality is undeniable and his skin biopsy at 18 months verified what we saw and felt. A high number of densely packed follicles in his skin, combined with exceptional uniformity in both Primary and Secondary fibers and between both fiber types is why his fleece feels like butter.
2007 OFDA 2000:
MC - 18.0 (ave. of 3) / SD - 4.2 / CV - 23.6
2008 OFDA 2000:
MC - 21.6 / SD - 4.2 / CV - 19.6
Follicle density tested @ 18 months (Watt):
65.46 / mm2
S:P 12.48
Primaries: 27.90µ SD 2.61µ
Secondarys: 20.08µ SD 3.35µ
CV: 20%
This is a well above average male exhibiting high density with good S:P figures supported by a narrower than average differential between primary and secondary fibers, especially for a non-white alpaca. A bonus feature is the below 4 micron SD for each of the two fiber types a very desirable feature in any alpaca male of quality." Ian Watt
